Chalkboard Designs

INTRO

One day, while bartending at the Burg & Barrel in Overland Park, KS, I was approached by both the owners to redesign a few of the chalkboards throughout the restaurant. Unique concepts were created with a single word kept in mind:

Local.

This little pub wanted to show the giant dining and event experience it had to offer. One design had the goal to attract people to the Rickhouse Eventspace that’s connected with the dining room that would host parties, wedding receptions, business meetings and much more! Another design was an aesthetic to list the various local and out-of-state breweries the pub serves to it’s guests.

All local designs made for a local experience.

Concept

We wanted to create chalkbaords that were local, classy & fun. This is a place that offers a wide, & I mean WIDE, variety of beers & unique cocktails to choose from. They host a trivia night at the Overland Park spot every week that people love to participate in. They feature daily Happy Hour Specials. There’s even a rewards program you can sign up for to use towards future purchases or events.

This place doesn’t fall short of options & we wanted to make sure all of that was being shown accordingly.

Both Jake & Mandy Chappelow are the owners of the Burg & Barrel restaurants. They provide such a well built atmosphere that makes you feel like you’re within a rickhouse with it’s wood finish & barrel head aesthtic. The key difference is it also provides with the aroma of gourmet burgers that’s being cooked & consumed.

Result

All concepts are first created digitally, then manipulated upon a photo of the chalkboard. When revisions have been completed, that’s when I start to apply the accepted design physically - finished with a sealant to ensure longevity.

“Greg has completed several pieces of artwork for all of our locations. He always delivers unique designs relevant to our concepts. I would highly recommend.”
