INTRO

Only the few & proud can be a Marine. George Cedeno Jr., MPA is one of these individuals who approached me in hopes of a simple design that represented his dream. Him & his two comrades served in the Marine Corps together for 12 years & decided to partner up to create an American Retreat. They incorporated the great outdoors, firearms range, bow hunting, and survival training as part of their program.

Concept

When it comes to training such as those listed in the Introduction, many ideas could be integrated. It was important to have three trees represent the three Marines in this particular design. George wanted this to be something that can grab the attention of military personnel, veterans, and families that want to escape the city life and enjoy the outdoors in quasi-controlled environment.

There is nothing more satisfying than a client who has an idea already in mind, but is open to new ones simultaneously. This helps guide me as a designer to create your idea as a physical piece of art. Even if your idea is simple, we can work together to plant that seed & have it grow into something wonderful.

Result

Various trees we considered, but we felt that Redwood Trees were the obvious choice. Their longevity, large stature & sturdiness was a perfect representation of these comrades. Many other aspects were thrown around, like the tail of a wild turkey, a bow, camp fire, an axe, an archery target and or cross-hair, but nothing stands taller than a tree.
